My Top 5 Go-To for Coffee in Bangsar

Now, if you follow me on Instagram, you will know all too well of my ‘slight’ obsession with coffee and my trailing of all the new hipster cafés in town. Fun fact: my first ever blog post was on a café I frequently visited when I lived in the city centre called FEEKA Coffee Roasters, which is still there and still a popular spot for breakfast, lunch and, of course, coffee.

The cafés I am sharing with you today are based purely on coffee and not so much on IG-worthy aesthetics (which will come in another blog post). They are my go-to for consistently serving a good cup of coffee, and coffee lovers will appreciate we simply can not function without a decent cuppa.

1. Pinch Bistro

We come here to enjoy the coffee al-fresco and occasionally a spot of lunch whilst others are drawn here for the extensive wine list and French cuisine. The staff are always friendly and accommodating; we’ve been coming here long enough now that it feels like a second home.

Location: 57, Jalan Bangkung, 59100 Kuala Lumpur

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 9am – 11pm

2. The Bean Belt

There is a variety of coffee places near my work, but by far, this is my must-go-to morning coffee preference to start my work day; I don’t actually know what I’ll do if they close down!

Location: KL Eco City Mall, UG-11

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5pm

3. Artisan Coffee Bar

This is my go-to when I’m doing the weekly food shop, popping to the local mall and have time to kill, or just want to take a moment with my solo self to sit down and have a warm cup of coffee, plus it beats going to the big chain coffee houses that you usually find in the malls.

  • beans sourced from Common Man Coffee Roasters and Oriole Coffee Roasters.

Location: UG, Bangsar Village II

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 10am – 10pm

4. VCR

You will find VCR on numerous recommended lists of “Top cafés to visit in Kuala Lumpur”, and I apparently agree. VCR currently has 3 outlets dotted around KL though my preference is their Bangsar branch, purely because it’s near where I live. As well as serving a fine coffee, they have a solid food menu from lite bites to avocado toast to soft shell crab burgers; you can’t go wrong.

Location: 31, Jln Telawi 3, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8am – 11pm

5. Lisette’s Café & Bakery

Another café frequently found on “Top cafés lists” in Kuala Lumpur is the most aesthetically pleasing out of the 5 cafés and will initially be why people are attracted to come here: however, the reason we keep coming back here is that the food is always on point, they have a delightful selection of cakes and pastries, which is the perfect accompaniment to coffee and we get to enjoy this sitting in their outdoor space, surrounded by plants and an enchanting flower wall feature.

Location:  No. 8, Jalan Kemuja, Bangsar, 59000 Kuala Lumpur

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8am – 10pm
